The second day in Santorini was mainly to visit the ruins.
First of all, we drive to the tip of the island before visiting Akrotiri Ruins, located in the southern part of the island.

Although we got lost a little, we moved to the Akrotiri ruins from the tip of the road. You can really travel freely by car.
It seems that this ruin was not available for sightseeing for a while because of renovation work, but the work was completed this year or last year, and we were able to go inside.
Akrotiri flourished until about 1500 BC and is one of the best preserved sites in the Aegean area.
However, although it was able to withstand the great earthquake that occurred around 1700 BC, it was destroyed in an instant by a major earthquake and eruption around 1500 BC.

Then we went to “Ancient Thira” on the south side of the island. These are the ruins of the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
To reach ancient Thira, which is located on top of a cliff, you need to climb up such a steep path from a place called Kamari Beach near the island’s airport.
Very tight road even by car, but there were a few people walking here and there. Too amazing….
The view from the ruins on the cliff was spectacular. It’s a happy location for me who loves cliffs and high places, but it might be terrible for those who are afraid of heights.
After walking around the ruins, we went back to Fira where we were staying, returned the car, had a leisurely meal and walked around the city.
After I picked up my luggage at the hotel, I went to the airport by the car which was arranged by the car rental company and flew back to Athens at 19:55 pm.
