On the first day in Santorini, I didn’t have any plan until I went to Oia where the sunset was beautiful in the evening, so I just drove around the island. On the way, I happened to stop by a town called Pyrgos.
The town was on the other side of the airport, on a mountainside on the way to the south side of Fira.
It looks beautiful, so I decided to stop by and take a look.
It is a town that looks like Santorini, but it is not as big as Fira and Oia, and tourists are sparse. I found only foreign group tourists.
When I see this kind of sign, I feel like I’m in Europe.
Such lovely window frames, and stalls and cafes.
Still, there’s nothing better than good weather, but the pure white walls are so bright and dazzling…. Sunglasses are a must.
Head to the church at the top of town.
We went back to the entrance rotary and had lunch here. There were only a few restaurants, and the biggest one was booked by a group, so we had lunch at a small cafe as you can see.
I only ate an omelet and a salad….
By the way, there were a lot of cats in this town.
Some kittens come close to us when we start eating lunch.
He came up to me, obviously wanting to give me something (laughs).
But in the end, if he didn’t get anything, he would go to another customer, and if he still didn’t get anything, he would give up as you can see…
I was healed by such a cat and had a good rest with a full stomach.
まだ夕方まで時間があるので、ゆっくりとドライブし北上しながら夕暮れに間に合うようイアの街へと向かうことにします。(続く)
