Actually, I haven’t finished writing my travelogue from last May yet…. But I’m almost done.
On May 17, we traveled from Santiago de Compostela, almost at the northwestern edge of Spain. We headed almost non-stop to Oviedohe and then Leon.
Then we went from Leon to this Salamanca.
If you think about it, Santiago de Compostela itself is also that close to Portugal if you get the distance to Portugal and so on.
It was a little over two hours from Leon and we arrived in Salamanca at about 7pm. I decided to stay in this city today. The hotel is this one near the entrance of the old town.

Because it was past 7:00 p.m., the church and other tourist facilities were all closed. Therefore, it became a sightseeing only to walk around the town in the evening.
I wanted to visit this Art Nouveau and Art Deco museum. By the way, the hotel is right in front of here.
Salamanca, like Santiago de Compostela, is one of Spain’s leading university towns, and its old town has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It feels bigger than Santiago de Compostela. It is a city full of historical atmosphere surrounded by a big wall.
The scale of each building is very impressive. I had a hard time taking pictures because the subjects were so big.
As you can see in the photo above, the scale of this categorial is impressive and powerful.
There are sculptures and monuments like this all over the city, and the city itself is like a museum.
Well, maybe the reason why the buildings in Salamanca are so powerful is because the stones that make up the buildings themselves are large.
Of course, the town is very innovative. After all, it is a student town, so I guess there are many young people. Of course, there are also many tourists.
I think dinner will be in full swing a little later.

We came to the Plaza Mayor, the center of Salamanca.

I wonder if it’s because it’s a town for young people that there are so many people sitting on the ground and having a good time. But it feels natural and relaxing to watch.
While I was wandering around taking pictures, it was getting quite late in the evening. The restaurants on the streets were gradually overflowing with customers.
I wanted to have a meal, too, but I wasn’t very hungry, so I decided to have a light meal at the Plaza Mayor and return to the inn before dark.
As a matter of fact, the sightseeing in Salamanca ended only with a walk in the evening of this day. I was able to fully enjoy it by itself, but I think it is a city that I want to visit slowly again.
マドリードからそう遠くないので、再びスペインを訪れるときは間違いなく訪れる候補の筆頭に上がるはず。
