Date and time of visit: May 5, 2013, around 6:00 p.m. (overnight)
Bonifacio is the southernmost city in Corsica. It is about 30 minutes by car from Porto Vecchio.

As you can see in the top photo, the solid Citadel is built on a cliff overlooking the strait.
This citadel is a spectacular sight itself, looking up from a natural cove. I couldn’t help but gasp when I arrived and saw the view. But since we’re staying in the city tonight, we suppressed our desire to take pictures and headed to our hotel in the Citadel first.
Tonight’s hotel was slightly away from the downtown area of the Citadel. But it’s only about a minute walk away. This is the view from the front of the hotel. (I don’t know why there are no pictures of the hotel…)
Unload your luggage and start sightseeing.
The Citroen DS3 casually parked on the street is very cool.
As you can see, the geography of the area is blessed with natural inlets, making it the perfect place for a port city.
So a passenger ship of this size can enter the port sufficiently.
On the first day, we didn’t have much time before dinner, and then it started to rain on the way, so we didn’t get to explore the area very slowly.
But I still had to take a picture of this “cliffside” scenery. It’s just stunning, beautiful!
By the way, you can follow this path to the other side of the Citadel.
This is the main entrance to the Citadel.
The atmosphere in the Citadel is very European.
We had a dinner around here and finished the sightseeing of this day.
The next day. First, we had breakfast at the hotel. We had breakfast on a nice terrace.
This is a marble chessboard from the hotel lobby.
Some of the pieces are missing, but it looks very high quality.
The next day is very fine.
I went to photograph the Citadel from that other side of the river again.
I could also see the island of Sardinia on the opposite shore.
After checking out of the hotel, I parked my car at the harbor for the last time.
A shot of the beautiful Citadel as seen from its harbor.
It was one of the most beautiful of the many European cities I’ve visited.
