Date of visit: October 10, 2011, around 10:00 a.m.

We are now on the Côte d’Azur. On our first day, we stayed in Saint-Paul, one of the most famous eagle’s nest villages on the Côte d’Azur, and on the second day, 10/10, we first visited the “most beautiful village in France” in this area.

The image of the Côte d’Azur is, of course, “the sea! However, my trip was different (laughs). The first day was spent in Nice, Monaco and other seaside towns, but from this day on, it was all about the mountain areas.

The photo above almost spoils the story, but Gourdon, the first village we visited on this day, is one of the Eagle’s Nest villages, but it is located at the top of a particularly steep mountain.

This village can still be seen from where it seems to be more than 30 minutes to the village. In the car, my parents and I were jokingly saying, “It’s not that village on the mountain, is it?

However, the road from the foot of the mountain to the village was better paved than I expected, so I felt it was even easier to drive.

Because it was still early in the morning, there were not so many tourists, but the parking lot of this village is very large and well maintained, I strongly thought that they are also putting a lot of effort into tourism. In fact, there are probably many tourists in the season.

Early morning in the village. It was very quiet and cool.

I was under the impression that the village was very well maintained and that there were surprisingly many shops.

The village is built on the top of the cliff which is 800m above sea level. The view from there is fantastic!

It’s hard to see because of the backlighting, but you can see the Mediterranean Sea from the village observatory.

In addition, there seems to be a chateau here, but it seems to be open only in summer. It’s a pity…. It seems to be in the back of the picture below…

Despite the fact that you have to climb nearly 800 meters in altitude to get here, once you arrive and start sightseeing, it will only take you about 30 minutes to finish, even if you walk slowly or do a little shopping.

But this is the best part of the beautiful village.

This time, unlike GW, I’m not alone but with my parents, and of course they’ve never been on a trip like this before. But they seem to be enjoying it more than I expected.

Now on to the next trip like this!
