Date of visit: May 7, 2012, around 10:00 a.m.
It was the 7th of May. The reason why we went to Grenoble at once the day before was to visit a village in the Rhône Alpes, which is considered difficult to visit even in the tour of beautiful villages.
Our first stop today is La Grave, a beautiful little village on the way from Grenoble to Briançon, close to the Italian border.
The elevation is definitely over 1,000m on this mountain road. We will continue on this kind of road.
It seems that this road is called “Route des Grandes Alpes”.
It was a straight road, so we didn’t get lost, but it was a mountainous road this morning, and we had to refuel on the way, so it took us about two hours from the time we left Grenoble.
The mountain from the parking lot!
However, the scenery of the mountains is magnificent, but the scenery of the village is like a ski resort in the off-season. (Well, actually, I guess it is…)
Still, there were some elements that made it a very beautiful village, such as the lovely stone church.
This church was standing a little up from the main street of the village.
Now we still have two more beautiful villages to visit today. From now on the road will be more steep.
