Date of visit: May 5, 2012, around 4:00 p.m.
Lavaudieu is a beautiful village on the way to Le Buit where we will stay this day. According to the map, the village is located less than 10 minutes away from the main highway on a narrow side road.
However, this main road is a national highway and the side road to the village is very narrow, so we missed it at first.
Once you turn into a side road, the rest of the way is mostly on the road.
The road was about this wide, but we rarely passed oncoming traffic.
It goes to the village while taking a picture of the whole view from the opposite shore. It seems to be promising as far as the whole view is concerned.
The parking lot was so big. Here is the view from the parking lot.
You will enter the village through this gate.
My first impression is that it is very quiet. It’s certainly quiet in any beautiful village, but I felt it was especially quiet here. I hardly saw any people or cars.
The central square is less than a minute from the entrance to the village.
There is really no one here. There are only a few villagers from time to time. It’s very quiet and comfortable.
Anyway, what I always wonder is that I see hotels and cafes in every village, but not so many tourists come to such a remote place, so can they make it?
Especially because this village is located in an inconvenient place. But it’s definitely chic to spend a night in such a medieval village.
It was a very quiet and pleasant village with a beautifully preserved traditional landscape.
It’s 5pm when we finish our walk. It takes less than an hour to get to Le Buit, so we might be able to visit another village. We decide to continue to Le Buit for now.
