Date of visit: May 15, 2013, around 11:00 a.m.

The next day after spending the night in the most beautiful village in France, Saint-Emini, we headed further east.

The first village we visited on May 15, 2013 was Montcru, which belongs to the department of Gard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. We arrived here at 11:00 a.m. We left St. Emigny at 9:00 a.m., so it was a two-hour drive.

ニームから70kmほどのところに位置する美しい村で、この付近には、3年前に訪問した「Aigueze(エゲーズ)」「La Roque-sur-Ceze(ラ・ロック・シュル・セーズ)」があります。

The reason why I didn’t visit Montcru 3 years ago is that it was not selected as one of the most beautiful villages in France until 2010, and not yet 3 years ago.

The history of the village, as well as the other Occitania villages scattered around the area, dates from the 12th or 13th century.

It’s a really small village, and it’s definitely not on the normal 1cm=10km map.

The road at the entrance of the village is also very narrow, as you can see.

We were able to park our car at the church in the center of the village.

Although small, it is a historic neutral walled city. It had a very fine tower for the size of the village.

The construction of the houses and the alleyways are very close to the neighboring villages of Egeze and La Roque sur Caisse.

The dog relaxing in front of the village hall was very impressive.

The tour of the village takes only 30 minutes. Now, from here, we will go to the villages we missed on the Côte d’Azur at once. It takes 4 hours at the earliest.
