Date of visit: May 11, 2013, around 10:00 a.m.
After two days, we visited a beautiful village. About an hour and a half from Bordeaux, where we had stayed the night before, we came to Mornac-sur-Soudre, near the mouth of the Gironde River.
It’s not exactly along the mouth of the Gironde River, but a little to the north, or is it the right bank? area. Swamp, marshy area? It is such a terrain.
google.maps.event.addDomListener(window, 'load', function() {
var mapdiv = document.getElementById("map_canvas20130610");
var myOptions = {
zoom: 13,
center: new google.maps.LatLng(45.70849, -1.0293),
mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP,
scaleControl: true,
};
var map2 = new google.maps.Map(mapdiv, myOptions);
var marker1 = new google.maps.Marker({
position: new google.maps.LatLng(45.70849, -1.0293),
map: map2,
title: 'Sounion'
});
});
Maybe it’s because I made a slight wrong turn and arrived at the village in a slightly frustrated mood, or maybe it’s just my imagination that I somehow didn’t get a very good impression.
A short walk from the car park is the village church, St. Pierre, a Romanesque church dating from the 11th century.
I couldn’t get a good shot from the outside, but the solemn atmosphere inside is indeed a beautiful village with a lot of history.
Walking through the village, I was very impressed by these light blue shutters, benches, etc.
I thought this kind of color was very French.
It may be because it was Sunday, but for a small scale and not so much attractions, there were a lot of tourists.
There was also a boat landing. I wonder if the tide is coming in.
You can’t use the ship like this…
And Halles, which you can sometimes find in beautiful villages.
There was not much to see in this village, but it left a great impression on me because it was located in an unusual terrain that was neither the sea nor a river.
