Date of visit: April 20, 2011, around 6:00 p.m.

Departure from Lochronan. In this area, we head east again. This time along the southern part of Brittany. In the direction, we will take the highway that leads to the big city of Nantes and head east.

The last beautiful village we will visit this day is Rochefort-en-Terre, which is about 40 minutes drive from Brest, a city in Brittany. We decided to stay at the hotel in this village because it was just before 6 o’clock in the evening.

Even though we didn’t get lost, we managed to get to the village through a somewhat difficult path.

I was impressed by the beauty of the village, but I had to find a hotel as soon as possible, so I didn’t have time to be so impressed. I parked my car in the parking lot and walked around the village, but the biggest hotel in the village seemed to be full, so I couldn’t stay there…

When I was at a loss as to what to do, I suddenly remembered the existence of this iPhone app.

そう、以前日記でも紹介した「Booking.com」です。(http://www.yuu-koma.jp/?p=6974

I immediately decided to look for a hotel where I could stay from my current location. There it was!

That is the hotel here.

I looked around to see where it was, and there it was, right in front of me. This is it!

But it doesn’t look like a hotel at first glance, it looks like a normal cafe. Moreover, there is neither a sign saying “Hotel” nor a sign saying “Chambre”…

I didn’t know much about it, so I entered the shop and asked if there was a room in French, and they said “OK! That’s the room here.

It’s like a room or a house. The price was about 10 euros higher than the price displayed on Booking.com, but I thought it was acceptable. So I was able to check in the hotel safely.

After leaving our luggage in the room, we took our time to explore this lovely village.

But it’s a very small village, so if you just walk around normally, you can finish in about 15 minutes.

Some of the churches looked very old and historic. The churches in the beautiful villages are sometimes magnificent for the size of the village and sometimes older than I expected. It’s true that this is one of the selection criteria.

We had dinner at the hotel. Because I was tired, I wanted to have a light dinner, so I had this galette, although it was a bit too standard. And the cider was so delicious that I drank three glasses of it. I was drinking so much that the staff at the restaurant gave me a nice smile.

I really enjoyed this cider.

I was already tired and a bit drunk, so I stayed in my room all the time since past 8pm. Unfortunately, the MiFi signal was weak in my room, or rather in the center of this village, so I couldn’t get online… I thought about tomorrow’s route, read a book, or played DS and took a rest.

Thanks to this, we were able to fully recover from the day’s strenuous schedule.

The next morning, I updated my regular real-time diary. I updated the diary in the parking lot where I can get a good signal. I also did a lot of work for the grain orchestra here.

I think I ended up playing with my MacBook Pro for over an hour in the parking lot (lol).

Now, we will leave this village and escape from Brittany, where we had a short stay, and go to the next place.
