My first lesson teacher was introduced to me by a music store called Mario Lucci.

05. Musicviolin

This is the third installment of the celebratory 10th anniversary violin memories series. It seems to be surprisingly popular, so I’m getting carried away (laughs).

So, you’ve decided to start playing an instrument, you’ve bought an instrument, that’s all well and good, but how do you actually play it?

You can’t possibly know.

Naturally, you have to go to the lessons.

But it’s not like I had a place to go… It was 10 years ago, after all. There was no way I could find it by searching the internet…

So I used “Internet Town Pages”.

Is it called i-town page now? (Or maybe it was then, too.)

Find a violin lesson school here.

Surprisingly, a lot of it stuck with me.

I wanted to be as close as possible to Shimokitazawa, where I was living at the time, so I found a teacher who was giving lessons at Yoyogi Uehara, which was the nearest station. I decided to give him a call and see what he had to say.

However, according to the teacher.

「実はもうレッスンをやっていないんです。というのは楽器屋を経営してるからなんです。」

“But I’m a customer of that shop, and I’d like to introduce you to a good teacher in Kyodo.”

If it is Kyodo, it is no problem at all. You can go there by bicycle without any problem.

And later, I visited the teacher’s home in Kyodo whom he introduced to me. He was a very good teacher as he introduced me, so I decided to take care of him.

It was January 2002.

When I first started, I tried to go to lessons every week.

By the way, the first music store I called was actually a store called “Mario Lucci” in Shibuya.

It was the manager who answered the phone.

Perhaps because of this connection, I often recall those days whenever I visit Mario Lucci’s. In a way, it’s the place where my violin started.

Oh yeah, I also bought my current Bam case from here.

I bought it when the manager was just there, and he gave it to me at half the regular price because it had some scratches on it.

いろいろとお世話になっているマリオルッチさんです。
