Camembert and Rivarot, Route de Fromage – 2011 France

Now, this is the version that is not a beautiful village. By the way, this is where I was before I came here.

Le Bec-Hellouin(ル・ベック・エルアン)- フランスで最も美しい村巡り2011 No.4 –

Normandy is also famous for its cheese. They call it “Route de Fromage” (cheese road). Camembert” and “Rivarot” are the most famous ones.

Let’s check the position.

To be honest, I didn’t do any preliminary research and just looked at the map, but Camembert is quite small and it was hard to find it on the map itself. Even so, I didn’t get lost so much, did I?

I thought I would be able to eat something, so I arrived at the village without eating anything since morning, but there was no one…

There is one church and a few houses…. The village hall and the following museum? A shop? and a shop.

But this place isn’t open. There doesn’t even seem to be any sign of people. I’m hungry (tears)

There’s nothing we can do about this, so we head a little further north to Rivaro. Rivalo is a bit bigger city.

We got there smoothly, and yes, it was about 1:30 p.m. when we arrived. I found a museum-like place, but it opens at 2:00….

It’s hot and I’m hungry, I can’t wait, but I have to wait.

Anyway, we waited for a long time to be able to visit the factory. It’s one of those things where you’re free to look around. It’s a bit modern, but it’s full of cheese, which makes me happy!

To be honest, I don’t care about the factory tour, I just want to eat cheese.

I wondered if there was a baguette to go with it, but I was naive. It’s not that easy to find a bakery in the French countryside… After this, I took a quick look around the town, but there were no bakeries….

I was so hungry and it was hard, but we went to the next beautiful village…. But I think we were able to enjoy the cheese road to the fullest. It’s really wonderful that such a small village is known all over the world, isn’t it?

ちなみに2つの村のチーズの味ですが、カマンベールはミルキーな感じで、リヴァロのほうがやや癖のある香りと味わいがします。僕はリヴァロのほうが好みでした。カマンベールはリヴァロの工場で試食できましたよ。
