Date of visit: October 9, 2010, around 11:00 a.m.
After a slow 15 minute walk from Ivan Square, we finally arrived.
I also check in on foursquare without fail.
The purpose of the visit was to buy tickets for the opera that was to be held that evening. The theater window opens at 11:00 a.m., but we walked so slowly that it was a little after 11:00 a.m. by the time we got there.
Now, can I get a ticket? It was no problem at all.
The performance is called “The Trojans” by Berlioz. The performance time is more than 4 hours, and the show starts at 18:00 and finishes after 23:00, which is a long time. But it’s the Mariinsky I’ve been longing for, so I’ll see it no matter what.
A shot of the theater lobby. It’s rather small.
It was not allowed to take photos of the ticket booth side. It is right behind this picture. But I was told that it was OK to take photos in the lobby, so I did. Russia is a bit picky about photography. I wonder if it’s a remnant of communism.
Anyway, I’m just here to buy a ticket now. I’ll come back in the evening. So let’s get back to touring the city!
