May 19.
We are currently waiting at Charles de Gaulle Airport until departure.
Today is the last day of my long trip to France.
Today’s sightseeing starts from Mess, where we are staying. First, we went to the Cathedral.
It was just mass and a lot of people were there. But this seemed to have a meaning.
In fact, this May 19, 2013 was “Pentecost”, the day of the descent of the Holy Spirit (Seirei Korin). It seems that’s why there was a big feast going on.
The pipe organ echoing through the church was beautiful.
After watching this mass for a while, we moved to Pompidou Center by car. This is the Pompidou Center in Metz, not in Paris.
I visited this Mess two years ago, but I couldn’t get in at that time because of bad timing, May 1st.
So, this time, I got my wish and visited there.
My overall impression was that it was very interesting. I wasn’t sure if it was always interesting or not because the exhibits seemed to change every time, but I think it was at least more inspiring than the one in Paris.
The work on the second floor using the “wall” was the most impressive.
The exhibition room on the third floor is also a must-see. After all, the view of the town of Metz from here is very nice.
Moreover, the way you see the city changes depending on where you look.
I was also very impressed with the wonderful design.
Our stay in Metz has been longer than we expected. Nevertheless, today we have plenty of time to spare, and now we are finally on our way to the last and most beautiful village in mainland France, Parfondeval.
About 2h 30m from Metz.
And finally, we’ve reached our 158th stop, the most beautiful village in France, Parfondeval!
It rained hard, but I was very impressed.
What impressed me the most was the beauty of the church.
It was small and simple, but I could feel how they inherited the good old days to the present. I was so moved by the beauty of it that I almost cried.
We have visited all but one of the villages on Reunion Island in the southern hemisphere in the “Journey to the Most Beautiful Villages of France” that we started in 2010.
It took me four years of hard work and a total of five visits to accomplish this.
After the sightseeing in Parfond-Val, the last destination was Charles de Gaulle Airport. From this village to the airport, we could take the N2, which runs diagonally in a straight line.
After two hours of driving through the vast land, we arrived at our final destination, Charles de Gaulle Airport. It might be the first time for me to enter the airport by ordinary road.
And returned the car safely.
About 7,300km of driving, I think it’s the farthest ever.
Then it was time to check in for the flight, pass through various security procedures without incident, and wait for departure.
I bought a prepaid SIM in Bastia, Corsica, and recharged it in Toulouse, and used nearly 1GB, although I often didn’t get through in the countryside.
I think this capacity of use will be a guide for the future trip. I would like to organize it again after returning home.
