201405 ItalyThe most beautiful village of Italy

This is my annual GW trip. (I’m going to Reunion Island at the end of this month, and this is France.

Now that we’ve completed the most beautiful villages in France, we’ve chosen Italy as our next target! It’s the “Tour of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages”.

According to this website, there are nearly 200 of the most beautiful villages in Italy registered. I think it will take me 5 or 6 years to complete the list.

First of all, we decided to select “Sicily, Southern Italy” for this first project.

Yes, Sicily! It’s a place I’ve thought about visiting many times but never quite got around to it.

Not only beautiful villages but also rich world heritage sites. I am looking forward to it.

Now, there is another big reason why I chose Italy. That is to confirm “the taste of real Italian food” with my own tongue.

I have always questioned the “saltiness” of Italian food in Japan.

Many Italian restaurants in Japan are really salty. I also feel that many places use a lot of chili peppers and are spicy.

One thing I’ve noticed over the past few years of touring France’s most beautiful villages is that European (French) food is never salty. I thought French food was indeed greasy and hearty, but I never thought it was rich in flavor.

Therefore, I came to think that the situation is the same in Italy, that is, the food is not as salty as it is in Japan.

I would love to visit the site and see for myself.

By experiencing the local cuisine first hand, you can also learn about the roots of the country’s cuisine. This is also like when you travel to Burgundy, Midi-Pyrenees, etc. to learn the roots of French cuisine.

And wine.

If you grasp this one too, along with the local geography, you’ll gain a lot of knowledge at once. This is also one of the great experiences I gained from touring the most beautiful villages in France.

So, I would definitely like to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the villages and learn about the real taste of Italy through my trip to the countryside.
