From the midway point, there are few major chateaus in the area.
From Grand-Puy-Lacoste, which is the halfway point, you will enter the Saint-Julien area. From here, you have to run hard for about 7km because there are no major châteaux until Château LAGRANGE and Château GRUAUD-LAROSE.
Anyway, it was a beautiful day, and the temperature rose to almost 30 degrees or even higher in the afternoon, and I drank too much in the first half of the race, and furthermore, I was more than 40 minutes over the planned time. It was not only the time limit, but also whether I could run another 5km or not.
24.5km Château LAROSE-TRINTAUDON(Haut-Medoc,Superieurs)
But somehow I manage to do it. We drink less than we did in the first half of the year, but we steadily work our way through the wine supply.

The wine served in barrels is too nice. But I’m already very tired, but I drink what I’m served. Sorry, I don’t remember the taste. But I drank well and took pictures. I can still move, I can still drink, I’m fine.
27.0km Château BELGRAVE (Haut-Medoc, Grade 5)
27.0km:Château BELGRAVE http://www.dourthe.com/chateau-belgrave/en/chateau-belgrave_presentation.html
We managed to hang on and arrived at Belgrave at the 27km mark. My legs were sore because of the big stones on the gravel road on the promenade leading to the chateau. No photos left… I guess I was too painful to take any photos.
I thought I’d stop drinking wine for a while, but I think I got at least one sip. I was desperate, I didn’t have the energy to remember the taste. It was fun but hard…
If you look closely at the building, you’ll see a Finnish flag and an Australian flag, so I’m sure there are many countries sponsoring the event.
It’s a Medoc with an international flavor.
なお、こちらのシャトーのワインは、セカンドラベルですが、事前調査時にいただいておりました。
Very mouthfilling and gentle on the palate, I made a note that the Merlot color was stronger than I thought it would be, and I certainly remember it tasting that way during the marathon.
28.0km Château LAGRANGE(St-Julien,3rd class)
28.0km:Château LAGRANGE http://www.chateau-lagrange.com/
This chateau is almost adjacent to Belgrave. It is a chateau that is familiar in Japan because of the acquisition by Suntory. It’s also a name that I feel particularly familiar with as someone who used to work in physics.
So we served the wine properly, but it was a little too acidic and not good. Too bad.
Lagrange was also drunk at home in the wine research before the show. It is a half bottle. I bought it at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi main store.
By the way, I bought Lagrange because I found a very reasonable magnum bottle there. I requested Yamato to mail it to me, but it hasn’t arrived yet as of October 10. Details about this will come later.
Going through the vast vineyards of St-Julien
From Château Lagrange to the next château, there is a vast vineyard run. It’s about 2km though. However, it was the hottest time of the day and there was no shade. Even though the roads were easy to run on, it was a very difficult run.
I ran as hard as I could to finish within the time limit, even though I felt like I was going to lose consciousness.
30.0km Château GRUAUD-LAROSE(St-Julien,2nd class)
- Château GRUAUD-LAROSE http://www.gruaud-larose.com/
This is one of the chateaux that I was very much looking forward to. The logo design and etiquette are very cool and it is a wine that I remember very well.
But almost 30km in and already more than 4 hours and 30 minutes have passed. I felt that 12km in less than 2 hours was quite a challenge for me, as I had already suffered a lot of damage to my strength and legs from the heat.
I’m so exhausted that I don’t have many pictures, but even with all that, we had some solid and delicious wine.
And here’s another pre-researched wine.
I remember it being very good. It was fragrant and easy to drink, but also had a firm full body. It was a wonderful brand.
ちなみに、以前、都内にあるお気に入りのビストロ「ラ・メゾン・ダミ」さんで、そのセカンドラベルがあったので注文してみたのですが、これも素晴らしい出来!
I knew it was a good match for the Chateau.
After 30km, the temperature rises even higher. It’s time to start fighting with the time limit in mind. It’s quite hard, but I can still run well enough. I’m feeling both hard and happy, and I’m aiming for the next chateau while keeping my spirits up.
