Visit Date: November 2, 2014
This is the last day of my 3 nights/5 days forced trip to Malta. (It’s already been two months since we went…)
Finally, the day of departure
On the last day, I checked out of my apartment, which I had taken care of for three days, but I just left the key at the counter in the lobby.
This day is also a pretty tight schedule. First thing in the morning we’ll go to Marsaxlokk, a fishing village in the southeast of Malta, and then back a bit to the ancient city of Mdina in central Malta. If we have time, we will go to Valletta New Town to take some photos.
The car was parked on the side of the apartment and we loaded our luggage and left Valletta. We were blessed with fine weather from our arrival until yesterday, but unfortunately the last day was cloudy and sometimes rainy.
It rained hard at night and the sound of the rain woke me up, but in the morning it still rained occasionally, but the rainfall was definitely slowing down.
Marsa Shrook, a small fishing village typical of Malta
From Valletta, we passed through the town of Tarsine, where we had been the day before, and drove for about 30 minutes in a southeasterly direction, arriving at Martha’s Rock.
This day was Sunday, because the morning market was held early in the morning at the seaside, it was crowded with people there. I wandered around the neighborhood for about 15 minutes and somehow found a parking space.
The market sold not only fresh and tasty fish but also daily necessities and processed foods. We tried to buy some Maltese salt.
A very emotional port town.
This colorful and distinctive boat is a traditional Maltese fishing boat.
We had some rain on the way, but thankfully it stopped by the time we got to Martha’s Rock to explore the town.
By the way, there seem to be quite a few hotels and restaurants in this city.
If you visit the island another time, you can stay in this city.
To the ancient city of Mdina
After staying at Martha Schrock for an hour or so, we went to Mdina, which is right in the middle of the island. From Marsaşlok, it takes about an hour by car. Once there, you will need to return to the vicinity of Valletta.
Unfortunately, the weather didn’t hold out and we had to see the city in the pouring rain.
Very nice town.
I guess they put a lot of effort into restoring it. It is in contrast to Victoria in Gozo, which we visited the day before. Victoria is also under restoration, so it may be transformed into a beautiful city like Mdina in a few years.
Post a 360-degree photo up, down, front, back, left and right with Google’s photosphare app here.
I feel like I finally understand how to use it.
Let’s make more use of it. From now on.
From Valletta New Town to a point overlooking Valletta Old Town
This is the last sightseeing. Oh, why didn’t we go here the day before when the weather was good….
It was such a beautiful view that I regretted it.
If you park your car in the parking lot of a relatively new shopping mall in the new town side, and follow the bridge from the mall, you can reach the best shooting point. This is the shot from there.
The shopping mall is not very big, but it might be enough for normal life.
If we had more time here, we would have liked to have a meal, but unfortunately our time was over. We had to go to the airport.
It takes less than 30 minutes from the new town to the airport. We had a smooth drive, returned the car without delay, checked in, had a meal at the airport, and now we were boarding.
It was supposed to be… but a terrible trouble was waiting for us.
