Date of visit: May 3, 2012, around 4:00 p.m.
The second beautiful village on our 2012 tour is Apremont-sur-Allier in the Centre region.
It is located about 10km southwest from the town of Nevers. It’s also very close to Magny-Cours, where the French Formula 1 Grand Prix used to be held, although it’s no longer held there.
The parking lot was located next to the church at the entrance of the village. Surprisingly, there were many tourists.
After parking the car, we went to the center of the village.
However, the main street is not more than 200 meters long, or so.
Then you go through a side street and arrive at a nice riverside area. It was very peaceful here.
The houses in the village are also very stylish. This is exactly what a beautiful village should be like, you could say.
By the way, this chateau is very impressive, so I really wanted to go there, but I couldn’t, even though I tried…. I thought it might have been impossible to begin with, but there were people inside, so I thought it might be possible.
I had to speak only in French and it was out of my control.
The entrance looks like this…
We were not able to visit the chateau, but we were very happy to see the beautiful village as we imagined.
That was the end of our sightseeing for the first day. We decided to stay in a town called Moulin, a little further south.
