Date of visit: May 7, 2013, around midnight

After leaving Corsica, we landed on the French mainland and had a day off to visit a beautiful village, Camon, located in the Ariège department in the Midi-Pyrénées region.

The Ariège region is located in Spain, just over the Pyrenean pass.

We took a detour on the way, but it is a village about two hours by car from Toulouse.

The atmosphere in the village is quiet and very nice.

The abbey in the village was built around the 10th century. It may be only a part of the building, but apparently it is now a chateau hotel.

Even though it was a hotel, we were allowed to visit some parts of the building for free.

Perhaps it is because of the local character of Ariege, where the Catalan faith used to be the mainstream, but even when I look at the cross, I feel that it is somehow different from the Catholic one.

The weather was mild and perfect for viewing the beautiful village.

It was a beautiful village, just as I had imagined it would be. To be honest, the beautiful island of Corsica was a bit of a disappointment for me, so I thought it was finally time to start visiting beautiful villages.
