This village also lived up to our expectations. It was not as beautiful as Limbourg, which we visited just before, but it was very characteristic and beautiful village. There are many beautiful villages in Liege region. We finally felt that it was good to visit there.
There seemed to be several parking lots around the entrance to the village. The place we chose was around the back of the church. If you follow the signs that we saw on the way to the village, we were able to get there without difficulty. However, the place was a little narrow. We were lucky to find a space. However, it was not so crowded. We saw more tourists than other villages in Liege region.
This is a map of the village by the parking lot. There were explanations in German as well as French and Dutch, the official languages.
The highlight of this village is the central square with the church and the town hall (village hall). But there is nothing to see but this square. But it happens often. The tower of the church used to be a part of the castle, which was built in 1635. However, most of the buildings you can see today are from the 19th century, which means they have the same history as other Walloon villages.
This city hall, cars can pass under it. This road was quite nice.
By the way, there seems to be a restaurant and a hotel, though it was not open at the time of our visit.
By the way, this village is very beautiful from a distance and relatively easy to photograph, as I chose it as the top image of this article. Of course, you need a car to get to the village itself, but I think you can get there on foot from the center of the village to the point where you can take pictures of the distant view of the village.
I often see a distant view of the village just before I head there, but it’s not always easy to get the shot I want.
Even though it’s not as good as France, the home of the Association of Beautiful Villages, we finally got a feel for the beautiful village tour anyway. This day’s tour of beautiful villages will continue one more time. It is still 30 minutes 12.
