Date of visit: May 19, 2013, around 4:00 p.m.
It’s been five years since I first conceived the idea, and four years since I actually started touring the beautiful villages of France. Finally, the time has come for me to conquer all 156 beautiful villages in mainland Europe.
The 156th beautiful village is Parfondeval, in the Picardy region north of Paris.
We departed from the Lorraine town of Metz at noon. It took about 3 hours to arrive at this village with a break on the way.
Unfortunately, we had to visit in the strong rain, but I was so impressed by this entrance sign that I almost cried.
I couldn’t find a place to park my car at all, so I watched the village from my car for a while.
The red brick houses were so beautiful.
I managed to park my car in front of the church, which must be the symbol of the village, and went inside it as soon as possible.
Wooden construction, very old church, indescribably solemn atmosphere. This impression can not be experienced in a big city church or cathedral.
It is very rustic and there are only a few buildings, and there is nothing to see except the church. There are no major tourist attractions around. But we were able to visit here because it was chosen as a beautiful village.
We leave this last village remembering each of the 156 places we have visited.
From here to Paris is a straight line on a public road that stretches almost diagonally down to the left.
Wheat field and rape blossom field as far as the eye can see. It would have been great if the weather had been good, though.
We went to Charles de Gaulle in the strong rain. We returned the car safely.
And I was on my way back home by 23:00 flight on this day.
