Tokyo Marathon Past Archive Summary #TM2012 #tokyomarathon

09. Sportsrunningtokyo marathon 2011

Still, it was a real blessing to be able to experience it twice.

Now, since I left such experiences and so on in this blog last year, I’ll write something like a summary article though it is presumptuous.

One thing in particular I was obsessed with last year was real-time current location information. I’d like to briefly pick up a few topics from the list above, including this one, and introduce the main points.

Energy measures for weak runners

I’m a cultural runner, not an athlete, so I’m much slower than most runners. I’m a weak runner.

Fortunately, the Tokyo Marathon has a relaxed time limit, but even so, running a full marathon of 42.195km is a tough job.

Basically, the timing of the lunches for the Tokyo Marathon is set with the average runner in mind, so slower runners may not have enough stamina to reach the lunches.

After struggling so much with this when I first started in 2009, I decided to bring chocolate and caramels with me for the 2011 race.

real-time information transmission

To be honest, I’m not interested in setting records at all, but this is what I was most particular about. Especially twitter was very encouraging because I could communicate with my friends in real time while running.

Here is the real-time transmission method I used back in 2011.

  2. foursquare(毎度おなじみ位置情報SNS、twitterと連動)

These are information transmissions done automatically using apps, etc., but of course I also tweet and post photos with my iPhone as needed.

I also tried to broadcast the event via video using “Twicas”, which is already familiar on the iPhone.

I wonder if Mr. Tweak will be recruiting official runners again this time…

Well, as you can see (laughs)

How to spend time just before the competition

I found this page to be very helpful last year.

301 Moved Permanently

Supposedly, this article will be published again this year about two weeks before the event.

We recommend that you check the Tokyo Marathon page frequently, as various important information for runners will be posted as the race approaches.

Sending out information in real time takes a lot of care, so it’s definitely tiring, but there were still a lot of things I’m glad I did. The next day, I took a day off work and looked back at the twitter feed and was really happy.

When I see each of these reactions, I’m really glad that I did my best.

Each runner has different thoughts and feelings, but there is an emotion that only those who have run 42.195km through the metropolis of Tokyo can understand.
