World Heritage Sites visited in May 2014

201405 Italy

そろそろ旅ブログの集計をしなくては。

First of all, I’d like to update this page as usual. This time, I visited 9 new sites and 3 revisited sites because Italy is rich in world heritage. The number is the total number of visits.

15. 18th-century royal palace and park in Caserta, the aqueduct of Vanvitelli and the villas of San Leucho – (1997)

It was even more gorgeous than I had imagined it would be.

16. Aeolian Islands – (2000)

It is about an hour away from Milazzo in the northeast of Sicily by fast boat. We were blessed with fine weather. If it were true, I would have liked to stay one night and visit Stromboli Island, which is also an active volcanic island.

17. Mount Etna – (2013)

Etna, the highest peak in Sicily, is also an active volcano. Overall, our visit to Sicily was blessed with good weather, and we were able to see it from everywhere.

18. Late Baroque Towns of Val di Note (Southeastern Sicily) – (2002)

We visited Ragusa, a typical town, on the 1st of May, so it was deserted.

19. Rock Cemetery Sites of Syracuse and Pantarica – (2005)

The Greek-era metropolis is still a very popular city.

20. Archaeological Area of Agrigento – (1997)

The vast ruins of Agrigento. But if anything, Selinunte, about 100km west from here, was more fun to visit…

21. Trulli in Alberobello – (1996)

We stayed one night, but it was preceded by a bit of a bitter memory because it was full of tourists & the restaurant failed.

22. Cave Dwellings and Rock Church Park of Matera – (1993)

It was a powerful old town, but the old cave dwellings spread out behind it was also impressive.

23. del Monte Castle – (1996)

Anyway, I only went there because I had time. It wasn’t very interesting (laughs).

イタリアは通算23箇所、ヨーロッパ通算は148箇所。最近はあまり訪問にこだわらなくなったとはいえ、やっぱり気になっちゃうのが世界遺産ですね。
