This day was also a visit of the most beautiful villages in the Marche region. From Materica, where we stayed the night before, we headed further south. First of the day, we visited Sarnano, the villages next to the mountain. Like Materica, the history of this town dates back to the Roman era. It was sunny when we left Materica, but when we arrived at the village, it was cloudy. We came from the north of the village, but just before arriving at the village, we could see the whole village.
My first impression was that it was a standard beautiful village. The village was located on a small hill. On the lower side of the hill, there were many shops and restaurants, and there was a public parking lot. We parked the car here and went to the center of the village.
Near the parking lot and the shopping street along the main road, there were a lot of people. The place seemed like a resort. And although it was not the vacation season now, it was still very crowded. But when I crossed the road to the hill and went toward the old town, it was very quiet there.
There was a museum in the village, but it seemed to be closed on this day.
At the top of the hill is a square with the church of Santa Maria. But we couldn’t go inside the church because it was under renovation.
There were several churches in this village, but we could not enter any of them. It was a sightseeing tour of just walking slowly around the village as usual, but I can say that it was a visit to a beautiful village in a way.
We were planning to visit four more villages that day, including this one if possible, so we decided to hurry ahead.
